Assam tea is one of the great Indian black teas, from the Assam region of northeastern India. Assam is the world's largest tea-growing region, producing more than 1.5 million pounds of tea each year.

Like Darjeeling, Assam tea produces two harvests each year - the second, or late spring harvest, is famous for leaves that have a golden tip, producing a rich, honey-like taste.
